Bertozzi & Casoni
Eternal and fragile presences
The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum becomes the stage for an unprecedented dialogue between past and present thanks to the work of the artists Bertozzi & Casoni.
The rooms of the house museum tell the story of the enthusiasm for collecting shared by brothers Fausto and Giuseppe, who transformed a Neo-Renaissance residence into a treasury of beauty and memory, where every object seems to defy the passage of time. It is within this setting that the universe of Bertozzi & Casoni takes shape, capable of transforming ceramics into a language that both celebrates and, at the same time, challenges the concept of permanence. The artists, undisputed masters of contemporary ceramics, have turned it into a tool for surprising mimicry and visual disruption.
Their works are everyday objects, still lifes, animals, remains, accumulations, and metamorphoses, shaped with such meticulous realism that they evoke a sense of disorientation: modern vanitas, testaments to the ephemeral that dissipates the very moment it manifests.
The ceramics oscillate between the real and the illusory, occupying the museum’s spaces as alienating apparitions, presences that harmonize with and blend into the collections, creating an illusion while also inviting reflection on the fragility and excess of contemporary society.
